Consultations Open for Improved Locate Delivery

The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement has launched consultations on the proposed regulatory amendments for One Call.

The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement has launched consultations on the proposed regulatory amendments for One Call, where excavators can continue digging after the expiry of the locate validity period without having to request a new locate.

We are pleased to see that the Ontario government is taking the necessary steps to improve the locate delivery process across Ontario, in which our organization has been actively engaged on for over a decade.

Currently, as specified in the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act, 2012 (One Call Act), once a locate has passed its validity period a new locate must be obtained in order to continue to dig.

If these changes proceed, the regulation will be in effect as of April 1, 2025.

You can view the proposed regulation change here: https://www.ontariocanada.com/registry/view.do?postingId=47853&language=en

We have included OSWCA's submission, as well as a letter template for Members to submit your own letter of support on this important initiative.

The consultation period ends on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Please contact Stephanie Bellotto (stephanie.bellotto@oswca.org) if you have any questions.
