Beginning March 1, 2016 new Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification Training Standards will come into effect. This means that all training under the current 1996 JHSC Certification Standards must be completed by February 29th, 2016. For those individuals trained under the old standards who have yet to be certified by the Ministry of Labour (MOL), training records must be submitted by no later than April 30, 2016 in order to have training under the old standard recognized.

In order to become certified under the old standard, a person must have successfully completed Part One and Two training, which includes:

• Part One training information submitted by the Approved Training Provider on behalf of the member; and

• Workplace-Specific Hazard Training Confirmation to the Ministry of Labour (1996 JHSC Part Two) form submitted by the member or their employer.

Additional information on submission criteria under the old standard and the changing requirements under the new standard can be found on the MOL's website.
