On August 1, 2020 the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks released an updated version of its Watermain Disinfection Procedure. The procedure is referenced in Schedule B of Municipal Drinking Water Works Permits and must be followed where parts of the drinking water system are added, modified, replaced or extended, unless the Director has approved a different disinfection procedure that is specific to the system The Ministry expects drinking water systems to begin using the new procedure based on timelines identified within their Permit.
