OSWCA members begin work on battery cell gigafactory site in St. Thomas

Representatives from the OSWCA recently toured the first North American EV battery cell gigafactory site in St. Thomas, Ontario.
Executive director, Patrick McManus, and government relations manager, Stephanie Bellotto, visited the 370-acre site, where member companies like AMICO, J-AAR, Blue-Con Construction, Murphy Contracting, and L82 Construction Ltd. are preparing the land. The gigafactory, part of the Yarmouth Yards industrial park, will be one of North America's largest automotive industrial parks, with a planned production capacity of up to 90 gigawatt hours, enough to power one million EVs annually. The project is expected to create up to 3,000 new jobs and thousands more indirect jobs in related industries.
